This is a very special place. A rehabilitation center/sanctuary, in cooperation
with Animal Allies and local groups, for both dogs and cats, and a real home
type hotel for dogs that supports the rescue effort.
A colony of spayed and neutered cats, all feral, shares the house and acres
with the family, the foster dogs, and the guests at the hotel. All freely share
the house and yards and are crated at night for some quiet time.
The pet hotel and pet sitting business support the animal advocacy effort.
Vet recommended. Currently handily supporting the rescue pets with some left
over for improvements and the people involved.
Like stepping back in time. The owners wanted instant antique, so they created
it. The 11 + acres are secluded but not remote. House was unfinished when they
bought it, but the former owners had constructed it from trees cut on the property.
When the current owners took over they were very ecologically responsible and
finished the interior mostly with recycled wood, some from old oak pallets.
Master bedroom is 12 x 25, with a skylight. The counter of the bath is
an unfinished slab or a huge tree. Kitchen boasts slate flooring and countertops
of black slate.
The Home is heated by a 1984 Kern wood furnace, an ecologically sound way
to heat, clean and natural. They also have two circa 1900 wood stoves. One
is a working cook stove, currently in use. Water systems use energy
efficient and water saving features. This is a step back in time to a Bonanza
like log home. Distressed walls, think of the fun you would have beating the
walls with chains.
Even the barn was built using recycled materials. Log slabs, recycled
pallets, etc.
The hotel for pets is also handled with an eye to natural living. The dogs
are crated at night in their own room or allowed to lounge with the family. The
play yards are spacious and outfitted with kiddie pools for use during the
summer. Business is well established and enjoys vet referrals.
Live your green dream, in an unusual one of a kind home. There is a horse
barn, capable of holding 200 bales of hay. This is in a pet friendly area,
near Concord, NH. Parks and conservation centers nearby. Trails right by the house.
Horse trails nearby and state parks do allow both dogs and horses.
This is must see for people who want a natural lifestyle. Keep the hustle
and bustle at bay in your own wooded paradise. A safe and happy retreat for
your four-legged guests.
